Stylish, but a self-service place

I don't understand why the hotel won't pick up or return any of my calls to confirm the reservation. Room with hot water but the water pressure is so low that I can't wash my hair. The opened air restroom should have been checked for its cleanness before the check-in cause the the big part of coconut dropped on the shower area causing the blockage to the drain system.
Anyway, the hotel manager seems to be attentive to foreigner visitors, so in conclusion i think this is nice place for backpackers. BTW there are limited parking and no free water or Breakfast although mentioned 'Included' via Agoda booking.

Laid back non-luxury accomodations.
View, hammocks to sleep outside if desired, godd home base to explore island on motorbike.

Some friction with Son (entertainment director, bartender / manager?). I became tired of Son’s negative stories about bad USA guests, since I was the only American at the hotel. I don’t think Son was directing his comments to me (at that time), but I became a bit upset as his comments went on too long during an after-dinner party. Son even suggested Americans should say they are Canadians, since Americans were disliked by many. Attitude was not what I expected. Granted, I was older than most guests (60) and a bit out of my element during the Friday night drinking party. Good group of guests and as long as you kept your expectations consistent with Gu's rule that "This is not a luxury hotel", it’s a great choice for budget accommodations. Beautiful grounds, sunsets, and island. Over the 7 nights, I never did get new towels or change of bedding, even though my request was consistent with the “every 3 day rule” for towels, toilet paper and sheets.

Easy tiny hotel for backpacker

The tiny hotel located far away from pier about half an hour by taxi,there is a good food at hotel restaurant, small pool in hotel can see the beach view but if you want to swim or walk on the beach you have to go other beach such as white sand beach and lonely bach because the beach at hotel is dirt stone

Where to start??
Gu's Bay is the perfect backpacker spot for the Lonely Beach area!
It is about a 20 minute walk to the famous beach however the water in Gu's although a little rocky at the start is perfect for swimming. There is also great grass areas to catch some sun!
The swimming pool is fantastic if the ocean isn't your thing.
The food from the bar area is cheap and amazing.
The bar area is also a great vibe - Sunny (the manager) is a great bloke who is always there to help and he always gets the drinking games going which is great to get chatting and meet other travelers.
The rooms are fine, basic but you get what the pay, there is so much going on you literally use the bed for sleep and thats it!
Cannot wait to go back!
