Best Hotels near the Beach in Hanoi

"We travel to Hanoi once a month on average and typically stay at a five star hotel on the lake. This was the first time we stayed at the Essence d'Orient Hotel and Spa and it will be the hotel we stay at from now on. We had a better experience here than at the five star hotel and at more than half the price and a much better location. What a great experience at this wonderful boutique hotel and spa. The overall feeling we got was one of visiting the home of a good friend. Warm greetings, attentive service, very clean, warm decor, fantastic food and unique personal feeling. The location cannot be beat if you want to see the old quarter as it is right in the center of the action. We strolled down one block away each evening to have a drink, listen to music and watch the people from all over the world. The breakfast must be the best in Hanoi (better than the five start hotel). We had lunch and we recommend each visitor to eat at least one time at the hotel for lunch or dinner as the food was outstanding and a unique twist on traditional Vietnamese dishes. We also spent an afternoon at the Spa on the second floor. Again, it felt like we were visiting friends as the spa staff took great care of us, provided wonderful, professional massages and gave us the energy to hit the streets of the old quarter once again. We will use the Essence d'Orient Hotel and Spa as our new Hanoi home as if feels like visiting friends. Who wouldn't want a five star experience at half the price?"

"The service is exemplary and this is one of the few hotels in Hanoi that I can safely recommend. The staff is geniuinely friendly and helpgul. The breakfast is the best out of the dozen or so hotel I have stayed in Hanoi. The internet is stable and signal is strong. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. A full spread of amenities can be found whether for business or relaxation."

"Located on the shore of the lake, the view from the higher floors are magnificent. Taking a stroll around the lake, you can find restaurants and cafes, although much more sparce and definitely quieter than the bustling streets of the old quarters. The hotel staff are bilingual in several languages, and very professional. Although priced higher than the average hotels in Hanoi, it is reasonable considering you get the best accomodation Hanoi has to offer."

"hilton hanoi is great for it's top service. we were staying in the old quarter and was unpleased with our hotel so decided to spoil ourself and switch to one of the best hotels in hanoi. managed to book a room close to midnight via agoda and wrote to the hotel to say pls can we have an eraly check in the next day if available. when we turned up at 9am the next morning, we were greeted by diep, who looks after the front desk. she was just great! she got my email and was working feverishly to get us into a room even though we saw that the hotel wa very full with a convention going on. she managed to get us a room and checked us in quickly - how lovely that was after the stay at our previous hotel! loved the hilton at hanoi!"

"we stayed at hotel nikko hanoi for 3 nights. it was a wonderful stay. front counter staffs were friendly and smily. there was a conceige counter manned by experienced japanese staff who speak fluent english, to give advise on what to do, where to eat and what to avoid (independent cabby)in hanoi. we have a spacious room at the 10th floor, facing a circus and lake from far away. the room was tranquil, in stark comparison to the hassles of hanoi street below. i enjoyed myself sitting by the window observing the people of hanoi commute on their bikes over a cup of coffee. there was a swimming pool but it seemed to be under utilised and no lifeguard/hotel staff around. the pool is located at the back of the hotel. its very quite and obscured, so be careful to let your kids swim in the pool unsupervised. we have tried one restaurant in the hotel. it was a paid breakfast as our booking does not include the breakfast. we paid about but kids under 5yrs old dined for free. it has a good spread of selection. the hotel has its own affiliate taxi fleet, so there will be a taxi always ready to fetch you anyway you wish and you can pay the cabby either vnd or usd or use credit card on these taxis. these cabbies charge a fixed rate if you are heading to the airport .if you plan to visit halong bay, you can take a private tour for a day trip but the journey is tiring. 4 hours on car to reach the nearest city. 4 hours on the cruise and then another 4 hours back. you may consider overnight stay on the junk and come back to hanoi fresher the next day. "I'm not a lover of big, impersonal hotels, so it was with some initial trepidation that I booked this hotel for my second visit to this fascinating city. I'm happy to say my fears proved unfounded with all expectations clearly exceeded. The hotel is really centrally located, close to the Old Quarter and really near to the fantastic Hang Gai shopping street...if you're looking for unusual, beautifully crafted souvenirs and handicrafts you can't go far wrong here! Although there's a lot or rooms in the hotel, it never really feels like you're staying in a big hotel, with clever design and personal-feeling touches spread throughout. As a lover of the Contemporary-Vietnamese-Colonial design, this is really inspirational and luxurious. Rooms themselves are well-appointed and cared for. I'm not sure the clear window between the room and bathroom will be to everyone's tastes, but my partner had a lot of fun with the remote while I was trying to shower! We didn't try the breakfast option, but other guests we met during our stay spoke highly of it. Staff are friendly, without being overbearingly so, and always on hand to help with recommendations, book taxi's and generally be as helpful as possible. Whether you're starting or ending your travels in Hanoi, this is one of the best places to stay, relax and enjoy this beautiful city."
